It's time for the Short Story Competition 2018. This year's competition is open to entrants worldwide providing the submission is in English. Best of all entry is FREE!

There will be two winning entries this year both receiving a brand new NOOK GlowLight 3, the latest NOOK eReader that features a new Night Mode, as well as GlowLight technology, a highest ever resolution of 300dpi, 8GB of internal memory and up to 50 days battery life! Sincere thanks go out to Barnes & Noble for providing us with these amazing prizes. The winner will also see their story featured prominently on this site and shared across our social media channels.

In honour of the amazing prize of a NOOK GlowLight 3 this year's theme is 'Light'. You can interpret the theme however you wish, the story could take place at dawn's light, by candlelight, or even with the absence of light. It could be about lighting up someone's life, providing hope or light in the dark. Maybe it's about a mysterious light that warrants further investigation?! For more ideas and tips on writing to a theme, as well as our guide to writing a good short story, please see this article we've written especially for this year. You don't have to read it to win... but it can't hurt right?!

So if you enjoy writing short stories, please do get involved and tell your friends.
